The New Hampshire Ten Year Transportation Plan lists the transportation projects and programs for the State of New Hampshire for a ten year period. The Ten Year Plan is revised on a two year cycle with input from the public, municipalities, regional planning commissions, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and the Governor's Advisory Commission on Intermodal Transportation (GACIT). The Ten Year Plan project list is sent to the New Hampshire Legislature for final review and then to the NH Governor for approval. The approved Ten Year Plan is the basis for the first four years will become the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) in the subsequent Transportation Improvement Program cycle.
The information included below is a listing of prioritized regional transportation projects, recommended by Strafford Regional Planning Commission for consideration as part of the State Ten-Year Plan. The list developed by Strafford Regional Planning Commission is a composite of projects from our 2013-2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan and our community project solicitation process.
If you would like more information on the Ten Year Plan process please contact our office or visit the NHDOT Ten Year Plan page.
Projects shown in the Ten Year Transportation Improvement Plan are based on the regional and state transportation priorities outlined in both state and regional metropolitan [long-range] transportation plans. To set these priorities the Strafford Metropolitan Planning Organization solicits project proposals from communities and other local and regional organizations for consideration in the regional transportation planning process. The resulting project lists and identified transportation priorities serve as the basis for transportation planning in the region.
The Strafford Metropolitan Planning Organization conducts project solicitation on a two-year cyclic process. As part of this process, the Strafford Metropolitan Planning Organization verifies project priorities submitted throigh past project solicitation rounds and solicites for new project proposals for transportation improvements. Staff contact the communities in the Strafford region, along with agencies and organizations that have a role in regional transportation, and encourage these entities to provide feedback about their transportation projects and priorities. The project solicitation effort results in a list of highway, bridge, bike/pedestrian, transit, rail, recreational trail and other surface transportation projects, and illuminates the regional priorities for transportation investments in the future.
